Carl M. Freeman Companies is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Trostle as Senior Vice President, Real Estate Investments and Development. Mark brings with him a wealth of deep experience in land development, site analysis and planning, engineering and entitlements, budgeting, and HOA management, with a core strength in community visioning and development execution.
Mark’s leadership has been instrumental in the development of legendary communities, including the iconic Willowsford—a more than 4,000-acre master-planned community in Ashburn, VA, where he played a pivotal role in creating an award-winning “agrihood” featuring a working farm, extensive recreational amenities and over 2,000 acres of preserved open space alongside 2,300 residential lots. His recent work at Pulte Group, where he led a team on numerous land acquisition and development projects, further exemplifies his ability to successfully navigate complex projects in multiple jurisdictions.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Mark to the Carl M. Freeman Companies team,” said Michelle Freeman, CEO. “Mark’s skill set in creating visionary places that truly enrich people’s lives aligns perfectly with our mission. His leadership and expertise will undoubtedly drive success in our real estate investments and development projects, and we look forward to the new opportunities and growth he will bring.”
Mark is a proud graduate of Penn State University. His dedication to the industry has also been recognized through his leadership roles, including serving as President of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) and his current involvement on the Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development. In addition to his leadership achievements, Mark is a Certified Landscape Architect in Virginia. Mark’s background as a Certified Landscape Architect uniquely complements Carl M. Freeman Companies’ innovative approach to reimagining the way people live, work, and play, consistently pushing boundaries to create spaces that inspire community and connection.
